2023 Unity Church of Truth Thank you Letter

Unity Church of Truth – Toronto

A little bit of history…..The Unity movement began in 1889 and flourished due its teachings and methods. Our Toronto branch was established in 1914, and our teachings have remained faithful to Unity’s origin.

Abraham’s commitment to the ‘divine revelations’ he received, let to the formation of Judaism.

The Old Testament is a large collection of stories relating to the successes and failures of individuals and the nation of Israel, as a whole. When the people were faithful to the ‘enduring principles” understood by their forerunners, they thrived – individually and collectively. But, when they ignored the basic teachings, insisting that ‘they knew better,’ things fell-apart, both for individuals and for the Nation.

After 700 years of misery, Jesus came, seeking to reawaken the people to what he called the “Truth” by telling them how to align themselves with the ‘enduring spiritual principles.’ Every so-called ‘miracle’ of Jesus was simply a ‘demonstration’ of what is possible. He assured them that “all things are possible” when a person thinks, feels, speaks and acts in harmony with the “Truth”. Remember his words, “The person who trusts me will not only do what I am doing but even greater things.” (John 14:12)

The ‘movement’ that came to be called “Christianity” arose rapidly because people learned to follow ‘spiritual principles’ and the ‘spiritual guidance’ they had received. Not surprisingly, Christianity, as an institution, soon lost most of the ‘spiritual vibrancy’ that had given it birth.

1800 years later, Unity was among a relatively few bodies that showed ordinary people how to use ‘the Keys’ to re-open the door to mental and physical healing.

Dear Unity Church of Truth (UCOT) Spiritual Family,

Thanks to you, and each and everyone of you, we are able and honored to carry-on Unity’s effective ‘message and methods’, of what Charles Fillmore (Unity’s Co-founder) referred to as “Practical Christianity.”

We want you to know how grateful we are for your active interest and generous support, in spirit and financially. The true value of our teachings cannot be measured but we personally know how much the teachings have resonated and enhanced our lives in the good times and through our challenging times.  In addition to these teachings being restorative, they also lift us into higher levels of consciousness and ever-increasing capabilities.  “With God, all things are possible!”

It has been my pleasure to sign each and every one of your donation receipts which list your gifts throughout 2022.  Please know that we continue to hold you in our hearts and prayers.  You are important to us and we want the best for you.  May all that you give, continue to bless and multiply, all that you receive.

We enthusiastically embrace 2023 with awe and wonder, with love and appreciation and we are grateful that you are with us!

Love and blessings,

Rev. James Sherman, Deborah and your UCOT Directors

2021 Unity Church of Truth Christmas Letter

Dear Unity Church of Truth Spiritual Family & Friends,

As we are now approaching “the most wonderful time of the year”, let us take a moment and join together in spirit, giving thanks for each other, our lives, our church and for 2021!

It’s time now to prepare ourselves spiritually for the symbolic birth of Christ within us, while giving God the glory.

1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

So, ‘thank you Rev. Sherman’ for another year of your creative, inspirational teachings and your dedication to delivering the best lessons to us all year long. Thank you for continuing to say ‘Yes! to God and Yes! to us, and for always giving us your best.

A special ‘thank you’ to our Board of Directors (Mr. Victor Austin, Ms. Debbie Latcha, Ms. Marlene Collins, Ms. Angela Collier and Mr. Lester Singh), who are always ready, willing and available with their open and giving hearts leading our ministry with all the business that needs to be addressed.

Thank you very much, to each and every one of you, who hold your church in your prayers and for the financial support that you have continued to give to the church even though you have not seen the collection basket for soooo long.  Our collection basket has taken a different form through Canada Post, Canada Helps and the Telephone.  All your charitable giving is greatly appreciated.  For those of you who have made contributions, tithed and given gifts to your ministry, you will receive in February 2022 a Donation Tax Receipt for your 2021 donations which may offset your personal taxes which is a benefit on a human level.  On a spiritual level, you are giving to the human source of your spiritual nurturing, which in turn is ‘Giving back to God’ and ‘Giving God the Glory’.  If you haven’t yet given and would still like to, it isn’t too late for 2021!

Our church Prayer of Gratitude along with our financial support is the following:

The Divine Love expressed through me, blesses and multiplies all that I have, all that I give and all that I receive.”  Thank you, God. Amen.

Wishing you a very Bright, Personal, Reflective, Sparkling, Magical, Loving, Kind, Festive, Happy and Merry Christmas!

Loving blessings,

Deborah

“The Light of God surrounds us; The Love of God enfolds us; The Power of God protects us; and the Presence of God watches over us – Wherever we are – God is and all is well. Thank you, God!” Be well, Be Kind, Be Safe… Know that you are a special and unique light in this world and that even the tiniest light can transform any darkness…Be Light and You Be You! Let it Shine…”

Unity Special Announcement

Toronto Public Library is taking a gradual approach to reinstating their services to ensure the health and safety of their customers (us).

As part of this approach Community Room and Theatre Rentals are scheduled to resume in January of 2022.  Unity will continue to provide Online Broadcasting and Telephone accessibility for Services and Classes. Thank you!

All Classes Offered Through Online & Telephone Platforms During COVID-19

Dear Unity Church of Family & Friends,

Unity Church of Truth (UCOT) Sunday services and Wednesday classes will be suspended at all physical locations until further notice, but will be offered through online and telephone platforms in order to support your health, safety and well-being during the Covid-19 challenge because You are important to us.

The Reverend James Sherman will be recording his talks, so our weekly online offerings will continue as usual. He may pre-record his lessons in order to eliminate technical difficulties sometimes encountered recording ‘LIVE’. The church online office will remain open, so feel free to call (416-487-3663) or email (office@unitytoronto.ca) if you have questions, or just want to talk or have a prayer.

Your minister, The Reverend James Sherman is at your service, ready, willing and available to support and encourage you. Our Unity Church of Truth Board of Directors are also available to talk and answer questions that you may have, as am I, also.

These temporary conditions and changes shall pass. We are being given an opportunity to observe ourselves facing new and unknown challenges while adapting our life styles. “ “

We will prevail in truth, love and light. We are putting our spiritual truths into practice. We have the eyes to see God’s blessings in each situation and person in our lives and we have the ears to hear our Divine inner voice that comforts us, calms us and gives us hope and peace.
