Thank You and God Bless You!

Dear Family and Friend of Unity!

On behalf of Unity Church of Truth, “Thank you!” for your generous financial contributions to our ministry as well as your love and appreciation for these wonderful and valuable spiritual teachings and practical life lessons taught and shared each week.

We have an ever expanding ‘heart of thanks’; a ‘heart of thanks’ to God, our Source of all Good in our lives and a ‘heart of thanks’ to you for accepting God in your heart and for you showing your appreciation for the teachings and fellowship of like-minded and like-hearted people like you, at Unity!

Your contribution to Unity Church of Truth addresses the ‘business side’ of the ministry too while spiritually and humanly making it possible for us to share Unity’s teachings with you and others for everyone’s spiritual growth and well-being. We trust that these practical teachings have blessed your life in positive, loving, nurturing and constructive ways.

Since inception in 1913, Unity Church of Truth has served and supported thousands of people on their spiritual journey through the leadership of dedicated and committed ordained Unity ministers and licensed teachers as well as through the fellowship of its members and attendees. Did you know that Rev. James Sherman has been the minister of our church for 43 years this August? Did you know that he loves being your minister and teacher and has no plan to ever stop doing what he loves? A little birdie told me that God willing, he is willing to stay as long as you want him to!

Your presence each Sunday, whether online, or, in person, and your participation in Wednesday and Thursday classes is valued too! Without God, your and others’ presence, we wouldn’t exist! It’s that simple and that incredible. Isn’t it amazing that we have each other and our wonderful church?

Donations to our church are our only source of income as it is an independent, autonomous Canadian religious body. Our existence is only possible because of supportive contributions from people, like you. Please find your income tax donation receipt enclosed as acknowledgement of your donation to our ministry and please accept my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation, your interest in our teachings and the gift of your presence.

Blessings and heartfelt gratitude,

Deborah – per Unity Church of Truth Board of Directors

Happy New Year!

Dear Students of Truth and Unity Church of Truth Spiritual Family,

At this time of the year, Unity Church of Truth has prepared and is delivering its Donation Income Tax Receipts for your financial contributions for 2016 that you can utilize on your personal Income Tax Returns. On behalf of our Board, Minister and ministry, I am writing to express their deepest thanks and heart-felt appreciation for your financial contributions to Unity Church of Truth. Acts 24:3 “In every way and everywhere we accept this with all gratitude.”

Our Church is not financially supported by any ‘external organization(s)’ which means God, as our Source, supplies our church through your individual financial gifts (tithes, bequests and other donations) which is greatly needed in order to continue sharing Unity’s wonderful and powerful teachings inside (Sunday Services, Wee Wisdom, 4T Prosperity Program, and Classes) and outside of our church (Unity Online Broadcasting, Memorials, Hospital Visitations, Counselling, Website, Speaking engagements).

With your faithful financial contributions over the years and especially noting 2016, you’ve demonstrated your steady and dedicated commitment to this important Spiritual work to ensure the continuation of the presence and function of Unity Church of Truth. Your support has allowed us to continue to ‘plants seeds of Truth’ into the hearts and minds of our own Unity Spiritual Family Truth Students, as well as to scatter ‘seeds of Truth’ within our city and beyond. James 1:22 “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

Our website alone continues to share our ideas to many ‘seekers’ and ‘like-minded’ people enabling newcomers to find, call and visit us. Our Unity Online Broadcasting via the web also reaches people all over the world.

Words alone cannot adequately convey Unity’s gratitude for your loyalty, love, commitment and devotion. Unity Church of Truth serves as a special and inspirational beacon of Light and all of your individual lights and expressions of Truth magnify its presence and support its purpose. John 9:5 “While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world.”

We are continually inspired by the dedication and generosity of contributors like yourselves who answer the call to give again and again, not only of your monies, but of your time, energies, talents and hearts.

We look forward to continuing our journey together, in Love and Truth. 3 John 1:4 “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”

God blesses you and keeps you safe, healthy, happy and prosperous in all areas of your lives.

Loving blessings

Monday, February 8, 2016: Board Meeting Conference Call 7:00 pm

March 6, 2015 Paul Coulombe

Again and again Rev Sherman helps give us alive metaphors, relevant stories, unique interpretations and piercing observations of the spirit and human…and how they interact together. A master at bringing concepts into wholeness (somehow) …his teachings serve to dissolve learned limited barriers/create new bridges or frameworks of belief and awareness….that point. Point? Point to our Spirit within. The wheat is gently separated from the chaff.

These teachings always point for us to rest, trust, identify and be lead by the Spirit in us-our Beingness…our awareness, and take cues from that place, not vise versa, not from the noisy, fickle and limited mind that our culture offers. Truth is not a clever concept but another dimension, somehow, that we surrender into in an ongoing letting go.

Most people cannot teach this way but James thrives in it.
Paul Coulombe

March 2, 2015 Leigh Skene “Sunday was the best service we’ve attended in decades, perhaps ever.

I think that the most common question among spiritual seekers is, “What can I do to enhance my spiritual life?” James (Rev. Sherman) gave enough direct answers to that question on Sunday to inspire everyone.

Inspiration requires far more than words and answers. It requires triggering emotional and physical responses, which he did perfectly. The whole room was entranced and uplifted – a memorable experience.

Sunday was the best service we’ve attended in decades, perhaps ever.”

Gratefully yours,

ANNUAL MEMBERS MEETING: Sunday, February 2nd, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. following hospitality.

The Reverend James Sherman spoke at Unity Church of Agape, Sunday evening, January 26, 2014 at the request and invitation of Unity Church of Agape President, Isabella. Although it was a stormy wintery slippery night the Reverend gave a very heart warming and thought provoking lesson enjoyed by all.

Unity Church of Truth Board of Directors, The Reverend Sherman (James) and Communications Director (Deborah) met with another Church President and their Board to discuss relocation possibilities.

The Reverend Violet Headley Unity Church Agape Minister for 30 years made a peaceful transition on December 10th, 2013. She was a positive ‘force’. Her faith was mighty. Her commitment to God and service to people stronger than steel. She loved God, loved people, championed the youth and stayed young at heart and mind. She was a devout prayer partner and she knew and respected the power of prayer. She will be dearly missed and her memories cherished. Thank you Reverend Violet for all that you were to each and everyone of your family members, your spiritual family and to all your friends and people whose lives you touched. God loves you and we do too!
Memorial Service officiated by The Reverend James Sherman, Concert and Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, January 4, 2013 at the Unity Agape Church in Scarborough.

Dearest Board Members and ministry members of Unity Church Agape,

Love, Truth and Divine Order Prevail.

On behalf of our Unity Church of Truth ministry and our Board of Directors, The Reverend James Sherman and myself (Deborah) we wish to express as a ‘spiritual family’ our deepest respect and sincerest condolences regarding your loss of your dearly beloved minister, spiritual teacher, mother and friend, The Reverend Violet Headley.

The attached document is to clarify and to give you the correct information that The Reverend James Sherman is indeed ‘in good standing’ with the Association of Unity Churches International aka Unity Worldwide Ministries and is indeed an ordained Unity minister. Thank you in advance for correcting anyone who further states otherwise.

We have recently been supporting several of your members at their personal requests through their process of grief and concerns. The Reverend James Sherman has called and spoken to your Board President and Secretary and offered his and our ministry’s prayers, knowledge and even Rev. Sherman as an ‘interim’ Unity minister to give your ministry time to adjust, discern and decide your next steps with no expectation of compensation. He has also offered his time and energies to speak to your concerns, questions, offer options and consequences in order for you to make informed and timely decisions.

Please know that we do not wish to intrude in any way. We will only come at your request and we will only offer our ideas if you ask to hear them. We offer our assistance out of love, compassion and respect for The Late Reverend Violet Headley, the Board and Unity Agape voting members and congregants.

We affirm that God is your Source in every need.

As Unity Truth students understand, Unity is unique from all other religious entities in that we believe in the Paradigm of Oneness and not in a Paradigm of Separation. Simply put, this means that God loves us. God loves us, now. God`s ‘Love’ is unconditional. There is nothing we have to do to have God love us. We are never ever separated from God. We are God`s Children.

God loves you, and we do too!

Loving blessings and sincerest sympathies,

Deborah A. Ducharme

“The fact that Rev. Sherman was born in the month of February is no surprise and is befitting to what he stands for in this world – pure love. It emanates from him wherever he goes. He is passionate about life, compassionate towards others, and deeply cares about the quality of life people live. He has made it his life work to develop tools that assist people in discovering their true purpose. He accomplishes this with such elegance and grace that people’s hearts automatically open up to God. Rev. Sherman truly is a great man and I feel blessed to know him. I benefit from his teachings every day of my life. Thank you for your CDs as I am unable to attend Sunday services!

When you reflect on the years you spent on this planet, remember that you have served well. Your message, as imparted by you is well received by me and my family, and I am certain by many others. My mother always thought of you in the highest regard. I remember giving a tape of one of your messages years ago to a co-worker who was going through some personal problems. Your message on that tape was so profound that to this day( it was over fifteen year ago, I gave her the tape) when ever she speaks to me, she always thanks me for the tape of your message. Charles Filmore has that wonderful quote about Zeal, allow me to say it this way, Rev. Sherman thanks for you presence, your knowledgable and informative presentations; keep going forth and do the things that ought to be done by you.
Happy Birthday.

“Dear Reverend Sherman,
As a young girl, I was a devout Catholic, going to church every day to find my connection with God and regularly discussing my faith and frustrations with our parish priests. At thirteen, however, I announced to my parents that I was leaving the Church. The institution itself seemed without love and was unsuccessful in teaching me how to love. When my parents refused to let me stop attending Sunday mass, I agreed to continue attending so as not to be a bad influence on my siblings. “Consider it my way to earn my keep”, I announced.
Losing faith in the Church was a turning point and one of my major life traumas, especially the lingering guilt that left me incapable of optimism, playfulness and joy.
Several years ago, that trauma began to heal when I found you. Reverend Sherman, on this, your 70th birthday, I celebrate you for being one of the wisest persons and best teachers I have ever known. Your boundless energy, your unfailing commitment to your flock, your intelligence, your humour, your warmth, your brilliance as a writer and as a speaker – all of these qualities have added a richness to my life that nothing or no one else ever has. With your help, I have finally found a deep connection to my Creator as well as practical, cheerful ways to extend that connection to others.
It is with eternal joy and gratitude I wish you, James Sherman a very Happy 70th Birthday!” AW

“How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?” Wishing you the Best Birthday imaginable and many more! B W

“Please pass along my best wishes to Rev. Sherman on the special occasion of his 70th birthday. We, at Unity are soooo…. blessed to have such an AMAZING, DEDICATED and INTELLIGENT minister who always imparts some wisdom to us. I, myself, thank him for all he has done for me on my spiritual journey and for his thoughtfulness during my dark days. Thanks to you, too, Deborah, for all of your love and support always. You two are an amazing couple who deserve all the happiness in the world.
May God continue to bless both of you for MANY years to come,

“Dear James: Welcome to the “70’s!”
I found ’70’ was the first birthday ending in a zero that I dreaded.
However, as soon as it arrived I realized I was still the same person,
Just one day older!
So celebrate still being among us. I’ve lost so many friends even younger than me in the last couple of years, that every morning I wake up is another Day to celebrate.
Continue to pass on your inspiring words of Unity wisdom for many years to Come. Greetings from South Texas!“

Sunday, April 17, 2011 Board of Directors Meeting at 12:30 pm

Sunday, April 10, 2011 Board of Directors Meeting at 12:30 pm

As most are aware our Unity Church of Truth located in Toronto ministry has not been affiliated with the CDN Unity Association since 2005 (they were removed from any affiliation with us in our bylaws). Our church also disaffiliated from the International Association in 2008 (removed from our bylaws) after the international Association declared The Reverend James Sherman ‘suspended’ from their membership. The Reverend Sherman’s Ordination was NOT affected and he CONTINUES TO BE AN ORDAINED Unity Minister. Our church applied to the governments of Ontario and Canada for formal recognition as an Independent Unity Body which was granted.
Although we are no longer affiliated with the Unity Associations we are watching to see if/when they will take responsibility and correct their errors in their systems and leadership that have affected our minister and ministry and many others besides us.

“Thanks for the info Deborah I think the issue was very well documented and detailed by the Author and even if the organization chooses to do nothing about our Minister’s situation, the facts cannot be buried and it will need to face the Facts at some time to heal the unfinished business. Many thanks to you Deborah and Mr Bottorff in helping to establish the facts. Sometimes when we think all our efforts are lost and forgotten they seem to surface in strange places and circumstances. Truth is always revealed regardless of conditions and circumstances of the past it never changes because God never changes.
As we continue to pray for healing in all areas of the Ministry and congregants, we persist in doing the work that Spirit directs us to do in revealing Truth each day, each hour, each minute, in all that we think, say and do. God bless. All the best.”
